An Audi sales executive is set to run more than 26 miles for St Helena Hospice.
Robert Barber, 42, and from Colchester, said he was inspired by a colleague who ran the London Marathon last year.
Now he’ll be taking on the same challenge on 23 April,
with his family there to cheer him on.
Mr Barber, who is married to Sarah, said: “I am very keen to highlight my chosen charity St Helena Hospice for the fantastic work and support they offer both patients and family members in their time of need.
“I have trained previously for half marathons but running the London Marathon will be my toughest physical challenge to date.”
Mr Barber has only been running for two years, and completed the North London Half Marathon for the hospice last year, raising around £1,000.
Since then, he has taken part in the 2017 Great Bentley and Colchester Half Marathons.
To support his fundraising efforts, Mr Barber is also holding a cake sale at Audi Approved Colchester on Friday 7 April, where he will be joined by St Helena Hospice mascot Dandy Lion.
The event will start at 9:00 and ends once everything has been sold.
